Fight Director Artistic Statement

​As the Fight Director for the nationally acclaimed Utah Shakespeare Festival from 2008-2010, I collaborated closely with prominent directors, designers, and performers from around the country on over 15 productions. My work included choreographing safe and effective staged violence in several disciplines (unarmed, quarterstaff, rapier, rapier and dagger, knife, broadsword, scimitar, guns, found objects), working with both small duels and extremely large battles, in several theatre spaces and tours. This work also included consultation for stage blood use, weapon history and choice, gun use, and general physical safety for things such as guns, falls, and climbs.
